Sr. Accounting Manager

Los Angeles, CA
Full Time
Experienced

As we continue to scale, we're looking for an exceptional Accounting Manager to lead our day-to-day accounting operations and help modernize the financial infrastructure that supports a high-growth robotics company.

This is more than a traditional accounting role. You'll lead a small but capable accounting team, own core accounting operations, partner directly with executive leadership, and identify opportunities to automate and improve our financial processes as we prepare for the next stage of growth.

If you're energized by building systems, solving complex problems, and bringing order to fast-moving environments, we'd love to meet you.

The Role

  • Lead and mentor Miso's accounting team - which includes managing relationships with Miso’s audit, tax, and legal partners - establishing a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee expense management at Miso, including payroll review, credit card and invoice expense approvals, updating budgets, and managing recurring subscriptions.
  • Ensure proper general ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, fixed assets, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
  • Manage tax compliance, sales and use tax filings, annual tax reporting, and external tax advisors.
  • Lead cash planning and forecasting activities to support executive decision-making.
  • Administer employee benefits accounting, including 401(k) and benefit plan reconciliations.
  • Coordinate internal audits and maintain strong internal controls across accounting processes.
  • Support SEC reporting requirements and work closely with external auditors, legal counsel, and finance partners.
  • Identify, implement, and optimize accounting workflows through automation and process improvements.
  • Partner cross-functionally with People Operations, Legal, Operations, and executive leadership on strategic initiatives.

The Successful Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with some leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting best practices.
  • Experience managing month-end close and preparing financial statements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets skills—you should be able to build sophisticated financial models, automate workflows, and comfortably manipulate large datasets.
  • Experience working in modern cloud-based accounting environments.

Desired Multipliers

  • Public company financial reporting and SEC compliance.
  • Venture-backed startup accounting, particularly companies approaching IPO readiness.
  • Manufacturing and hardware with a focus on inventory accounting.
  • Regulation Crowdfunding (Reg CF), Regulation A+, or other alternative capital formation reporting.
  • NetSuite ERP administration.
  • Carta equity management.
  • Rippling payroll and HRIS.
  • Fidelity 401(k) administration.
  • Accounting process automation, reporting dashboards, and systems integrations.
